In 1793, George Washington held the first ever cabinet meeting. Unlike future meetings that would include sixteen cabinet members, this first one included just four. Washington met with: Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton, Secretary of War Henry Knox and Attorney General Edmund Randolph.
